Great padel is learned, not inherited — and it is far more welcoming than it looks from the balcony. Our padel coaching in Leeds is built around a single idea: the game should feel approachable from your very first session, whether you have never held a racket or you are already chasing a higher level. Oliver and Adam, our founders and head coaches, are qualified, warm and refreshingly un-intimidating, with one mission — to get Alwoodley addicted, one rally at a time. From beginner groups to advanced match craft and private one-to-one lessons under our covered, FIP-spec courts, here is everything you need before you step on court in North Leeds.
None at all. Our beginner sessions assume you have never held a racket, and most newcomers are rallying within the first few minutes. Oliver and Adam keep the atmosphere relaxed and fun, so it is a genuinely welcoming place to start — no experience needed, just the willingness to give it a go.
Our founders and head coaches, Oliver and Adam, lead all coaching. Both are qualified coaches with a warm, un-intimidating style. Their goal is to get Alwoodley addicted to padel, which means lessons that are encouraging and genuinely enjoyable, whatever your level.
We run beginner, intermediate and advanced group sessions, plus semi-private and private one-to-one lessons. Beginner runs weekly as group sessions; intermediate is available as group and semi-private; advanced is semi-private and private only; and one-to-one coaching with Oliver or Adam is open to every level.
Yes. Private sessions are tailored entirely to your game with direct feedback from Oliver or Adam, and suit every level from nervous beginner to competitive advanced player. With two courts and two coaches, private slots are limited — waitlist members get priority access, so enquire early.
All coaching is at The Padel Local, Alwoodley Community Association, The Avenue, Alwoodley, Leeds, LS17 7NZ. Our two panoramic courts are built to FIP specification and sit under a full canopy, so lessons go ahead rain or shine, year-round.
The club is pre-opening, with coaching beginning when we open in Summer 2026. Join the waitlist now for priority court booking from day one, founding-member rates and invitations to exclusive pre-opening events.
Most people find padel easier and quicker to pick up than tennis. The court is smaller and enclosed, the walls keep the ball in play, and it is always played in pairs, so points are sociable and forgiving. That is exactly why our beginner lessons get people rallying so fast.
